Advanced Heart & Lung Function Testing

ECG and spirometry are important diagnostic tests used to assess your heart and lung health. Your GP may recommend these tests to investigate symptoms such as chest pain, palpitations, shortness of breath, or persistent cough, monitor existing cardiac or respiratory conditions, assess the effects of certain medications, or meet pre-employment, pre-operative, insurance, and occupational health requirements. These quick, non-invasive tests provide valuable information to support accurate diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing care.

In-clinic access to ECG and spirometry means your GP can investigate symptoms and review results in real time — without sending you to a separate diagnostic centre. An ECG records the electrical activity of your heart, helping diagnose arrhythmias, screen for cardiac conditions, and monitor the effects of medications. Spirometry measures how much air you can move in and out of your lungs and how fast — helping diagnose asthma, COPD, and other respiratory conditions. Both tests are non-invasive, painless, and performed by our trained nursing team. Results are reviewed by your GP at the same appointment where clinically urgent.

Heart & Lung Diagnostics — On-Site, Same Day

We offer ECG and spirometry in-clinic — two essential diagnostic tests for heart and lung health, often available on the same day as your GP consultation.

Results & Discussion

Your GP reviews the results and discusses them with you — explaining what they mean, identifying any abnormalities, and determining whether further investigation or treatment is needed.

The Test

ECG takes approximately 10 minutes with 10 electrodes placed on the body. Spirometry takes 15–20 minutes — you breathe into a flow meter through a clean mouthpiece and repeat the effort several times.

Preparation

For ECG: no preparation required. For spirometry: avoid smoking and heavy exercise for 4 hours beforehand, and bring a list of your current respiratory medications.
